We are living in
strange times yet we continue to trust in the name of the Lord!
Psalm 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
The President, our Governor and local officials have issued guidelines to keep our citizenry as safe as possible. Salem Sayers Baptist Church will endeavor to heed those guidelines.
With that being said, we are asking church folk to refrain from attending our services in person. We would also ask that any small groups considering meeting in person contact Pastor Bret prior to scheduling. All church activities will be suspended until further notice.
SSBC will live stream our regular public worship service via Facebook and on our Website at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. Please check back here or our social media outlet for updates.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Back in the 14th century, long before the days of modern medicine, Europe was decimated by the Black Plague. In fact, the plague is estimated to have killed about 25 million people in Europe-about one third of the population of the continent! This was clearly a very, very serious situation. Martin Luther was one of the great theologians of the day, and he was asked how Christians should respond to this health crisis. Here’s what he said:
“I shall ask God mercifully to protect us. Then I shall fumigate, help purify the air, administer medicine and take it. I shall avoid places and persons where my presence is not needed in order not to become contaminated and thus perchance inflict and pollute others and so cause their death as a result of my negligence. If God should wish to take me, he will surely find me and I have done what he has expected of me and so I am not responsible for either my own death or the death of others. If my neighbor needs me however, I shall not avoid place or person but will go freely as stated above. See, this is such a God-fearing faith because it is neither brash nor foolhardy and does not tempt God.”
Please join us each Sunday morning at 10:30 as we worship the living God for who He is. Through Christ-exalting music and faithfully solid Bible teaching, we hope to have an experience where the focus is totally on Jesus Christ and His gospel. Come worship with us!
